Lancelin Sand Dunes - Western Australia
These sand dunes are found in the small
town of Lancelin, within the Shire of Gingin, roughly 110 kilometres
north of Perth. With a total population of just 600 people, this town
gained its popularity when it was assigned as a port for the crayfish
or lobster industry. Although now, it is these sand dunes which
attract nearly 2000 adventure seekers during the Christmas/New Year
holidays. At 45 degree angles, and with a length of nearly two
kilometres, these are the biggest dunes in the whole Western
Australia; and travellers can enjoy sand boarding, or driving in
buggies, as well as kite surfing and windsurfing in the ocean near
Lancelin.
