These snow-bearing mountains belong to the Crown Range, situated between Queenstown and Wanaka. This range is home to the famously beautiful scenic highway of Crown Range Road, which offers views just as breathtaking as this. This small and normally quiet town saw a huge population boom in the 1860s during the Central Ontagro gold rush, and still provides a vibrant tourism destination for skiers at the Cardona Alpine Resort on the 1900 meter high Mount Cardona.
